So kids really do say funny things. I did a sub job today that was for an elementary art teacher and here are some things I picked up as the kids drew pictures of whatever their hearts desired...
Student: Did you know that there is no wrong art all art is beautiful?
Me: Yes I think that is true where did you learn that?
Student: I learned it at children's camp this summer. I am the smartest girl in this class did you know that..
Student: This is my mom in the picture and my stepdad...my mom hates my stepmom though.
Me: Really well that's not too good now is it...(I wasn't real sure how to respond to that one).
And the best comment of the day!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Student 1: I am the king of this group.
Student 2: I am the princess.
And the best one of the entire day...
Student: I can only draw girls because they wear dresses. I don't know how to draw boys clothes.
Me: That is true most boys don't wear dresses, and boy clothes are harder to draw.
Student: Well sometimes the gay ones do.
Me: Well I just walked away at this point because I couldn't stop laughing. How does a 1st grader know that????
Overall it was a fun day. They said a lot of funny things, but it was hard to remember them all! Kids can be very cute, but it made me glad that I am a high school teacher. You have to keep them in control all the time and discipline is not my forte.
On a side note...I am doing a long term sub job for the next 2 weeks at Wilson Jr. High, so my official moving date will be the first weekend in February.
