Well tomorrow the truck is being loaded and Friday Dad and I are headed on a long road trip to Spring, TX. I am not officially moving until next month, but I decided while I have the time to unpack and get things in order I should do it. So we are getting a Penske truck and doing to trip this weekend.
It will be the first year (and hopefully the last) that I won't be with my family and friends for Christmas. I'm not real happy about that part, but we are celebrating when my sister gets here in January. I guess I will survive, but it is definitely going to be tough going.
J found a house for us to rent last week. It is a brand new and a little bigger than we really need - I hear that is how they do things in Texas. I'm a little scared and somewhat excited to move. I'm ready to have my own home again and get this craziness over with. It's been very difficult to be in a state of flux for so long, so I'm ready to get settled and move on.
I'm going to be staying at AL until the end of the semester and in IA maybe until the end of January. I haven't really set a final move date just yet.
Other than that not much to tell. I will miss you all during the holidays very, very much and hope to celebrate the New Year and my birthday when I return.
It is described in the title. Simple observations about life and my thoughts of the crazy world we live in.

I may take the challenge...on a smaller scale
10 friends live secondhand for a yearTen friends in San Francisco vowed last year not to purchase a single new thing in 2006 -- except food, the bare necessities for health and safety (toilet paper, brake fluid) and, thankfully, underwear, and maybe socks. http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/16259064/from/ET/
I read this article today and thought it was a pretty interesting idea. As a person who really likes to spend money, I don't' think it would hurt for me to take a pledge of buying nothing new for a month or two. I guess my thoughts on it are less environmental and more about budgeting. I think doing something like this would be a good way to get spending in check. It would really make a person think about the unnecessary things that they buy each month. I don't know maybe I'll try it some time this year...hey it can't hurt to try right?
