Girls Weekend in Chicago

Well early tomorrow morning I'm headed to Chicago to spend a much needed weekend with the girls. I have one friend that lives there and two that will be joining me. I think this is exactly what I need to relax and recharge. It's been a long week and and an "interesting" summer so I think this will be a great way to put an end to it.

"Finish each day and be done with it. You have done what you could; some blunders and absurdities have crept in; forget them as soon as you can. Tomorrow is a new day; you shall begin it serenely and with too high a spirit to be encumbered with your old nonsense."
Ralph Waldo Emerson

Celebration!!!!!!!!!

Ok I finally finished my homework it's been a relentless week of work-I know I'm a sissy I used to do this all the time and I never found it quite this excruciating in the past. As long as I don't have to redo anything all I have left is student teaching. It's exciting I've been frustrated with my job because it's becoming boring and I'm looking forward to a change. Just a few months left and I'll be on to my next adventure...

Online Pick Up Line

Ok so these women are stupid enough to fall for the LAMEST pick up line ever written in a news article and now they want to be compensated for their pain and anguish. It's a sad day when our courts grant compensation for someone's stupidity in relationships. Do women who are abused get monetary compensation for their pain and anguish...no...they are lucky if they get the chance to live thier life free of the worthless bastard who hurt them in the first place. Wouldn't it be nice to get money every time a significant other made false statements (aka lying) or caused you severe emotional distress. Let's make this a precedence don't buy us flowers anymore just pay us off, so we can go shopping and pretend like nothing happened-please note the last line is meant to be read with heavy sarcasm. If you know me you know I don't like flowers in place of empty apologies anyway.

Boy Brains, Girl Brains

I think the thing that I found most interesting about this article is that they are saying that schools are geared towards female students. In the past the argument was that Math and Science were always geared towards males. Women have always scored higher in reading and writing skills. Why does our society keep trying to find physical excuses to explain why our students aren't getting the education they deserve. One teacher in this article stated it correctly, "If you want to make schools a better place," says Sadker, "you have to strive to see kids as individuals." Teachers need to teach to all different types of learning styles in today's diverse classrooms. Dick and Jane are out-it's time to create schools that use creative, productive, influential methods of teaching to help students become successful. Coming from a public school I see the social importance of having classrooms with male and female students...how else are kids going to become traumatized by the opposite sex? I think this is an important part of growing up and becoming an adult.

C'est La Vie

Well I've been very busy working on my requirements to apply for student teaching. I wish I hadn't procrastinated so much on finishing these, but C'est La Vie (it is life). I just spent eight hours of my life writing 14 lesson plans for an imaginary classroom which can be a bit frustrating at times. They require you to use a cookie cutter lesson plan sheet and I'm sick of filling it with useless information just so it looks like they want it to. I can't wait until all of this is over I'm so sick of thinking about it!

I think I've given up all hope on finding a man who knows even a little of what he wants out of life-let alone dating! They are all crazy...indecisive...inconsistent...and unwilling to make a decision. Sorry guys it's just that your very frustrating at times...

On a happy note the ISU Cyclones beat previously ranked #8 Iowa Hawkeyes this weekend, so as my father would say "It's great to be in a Cyclone state again!" It was a great game our boys dominated the field the entire game and it was fun to see them play well and strong the all four quarters. I don't think Iowa made it past our 50 yard line the entire first quarter. It was a packed house, so of course that even made it better.

For those of you who know my best friend whom I've known basically since we were infants. She is now engaged to her long term boyfriend her ring is beautiful and I'm extremely happy for her! Despite what your thinking this is not the reason for my current bitterness about being single and dating...no seriously it's not :-).
