A Collosal Failure of Leadership

What more is there to say?

Tomatina

I went searching for some fun news as this weeks accounts of hurricane Katrina are quite depressing, so this is what I found. How cool would it be to see a bunch of people having a tomato fight :-).?

Hurricane Katrina

So this is what I've been waiting for there are a million things in the media right now about Hurricane Katrina and the relief efforts many of which I find frustrating. Where is the America that we saw leap into action on 9-11? What is going on in Louisiana that makes this disaster so bleak. We have totally dropped the ball on this tragedy as far as I've read and seen. We reacted slowly and without consideration for the millions affected. This wasn't some small time disaster this was HUGE! MASSIVE! DEVASTATING!, yet it takes two days to figure out that the conditions in the SuperDome are unsanitary. These poor people haven't eaten for two F***ING days-are you serious. Now I understand we couldn't get to them right away, but it seems our plan for evacuation was as bad as our plan to house them there in the first place. Maybe I'm wrong and I'm just seeing the problems and I'm missing something. I ask please someone to tell me where I'm wrong, so I can have a little more faith in our country and our reaction to this type of disaster because right now it's not real pretty.

I guess what it boils down to is that I hope America steps up to the plate and works toward rebuilding what was a beautiful city. We need to start with basics getting people food, water, and shelter - his name is Maslow anyone heard of him?
